Since June, the Železiarne Podbrezová Brass Band has had a new conductor. Young and talented Natália Perďochová has taken the lead of one of the oldest ensembles of its kind in Slovakia. She made her first appearance with the orchestra in her new role at the Brass Band Festival in Valaská.

The first broadcast aired in 1951, and since then it has accompanied generations of employees. The end of May at the Private Secondary School of Železiarne Podbrezová was marked by a festive atmosphere. Nearly eighty graduates successfully completed their four-year studies and closed an important chapter of their lives. The traditional graduation ceremony became a symbolic bridge between the classroom and the new opportunities awaiting them in further education, professional careers, or among the future steelworkers of Železiarne Podbrezová.
Podbrezová football experienced a moment that will be remembered for many years. The club’s U17 team achieved a historic success by becoming Slovak champions in the country’s top youth league competition. The young Ironworkers finished ahead of renowned clubs from Bratislava, Trnava, Žilina, Košice, Prešov, and Dunajská Streda, bringing the first-ever national championship title from the highest league level to Podbrezová—whether in youth or senior football.
Ľupča Castle is entering another important phase of restoration. Over the next two years, reconstruction work will focus on the most valuable medieval section of the castle’s second floor. The project has received support from the Slovak Ministry of Culture through the Let’s Restore Our House programme and is co-financed by Železiarne Podbrezová, the owner of the castle.
