The first Saturday of July was filled with smiles, children’s laughter, and shared experiences. The Basic Trade Union Organization OZ KOVO at Železiarne Podbrezová organized a full-day trip for the children of its members to the fairytale village of Habakuky in Donovaly, where the famous stories of Pavol Dobšinský come to life.

From the moment they arrived, it was clear that an unforgettable day awaited them. Sunny weather, fresh mountain air, and the excitement in the eyes of both children and parents created a wonderful atmosphere even before entering the fairytale village.

Discovering a Fairytale World

After a short welcome, the children eagerly set off to explore the magical corners of the village. They visited traditional wooden houses where they watched the making of fragrant gingerbread and the casting of small bells. Creative workshops, where they could fully express their imagination, were a great success, as was the popular face painting that brought smiles to many young faces.

Fairytales, Fun and Relaxation

The rich programme also included theatrical performances by professional actors. Children enjoyed well-known fairytales such as Little Red Riding Hood, The Golden Spinner, and Long, Broad and Sharp-Eyes. The biggest applause was reserved for the interactive performance of Hansel and Gretel, in which the young audience could actively participate.

There was also plenty of time for free play. The children had fun on climbing frames, swings, the sandbox, and many other attractions, while parents relaxed with a cup of good coffee and enjoyed the pleasant surroundings.

Memories That Will Last

Everyone returned home pleasantly tired but full of wonderful memories. Once again, the trip showed how important it is to spend quality time together—giving children unforgettable experiences while allowing adults to slow down for a moment and see the world through a child’s eyes.

Special thanks go to the management of Železiarne Podbrezová for providing bus transportation and preparing sweet gift packages for the children. Their support helped make the entire day enjoyable and filled with good spirits.
