It is with great pleasure and pride that we share exceptional news from our international business family. Luigi Cuzzolin, a key figure closely associated with the Železiarne Podbrezová Group, has officially been appointed Knight of the Italian Republic (Cavaliere e Ufficiale della Repubblica).

This prestigious state honour, the highest distinction of the Italian Republic established by law on 3 March 1951, is awarded for outstanding merit to the nation in the fields of science, literature, the arts and the economy, as well as for social and public service. It represents significant recognition of Cuzzolin’s lifelong contribution to industry, diplomacy and the development of international relations.

Professional Career and Achievements in the Steel Industry

Luigi Cuzzolin (born in Bergamo in 1961) has devoted a significant part of his career to the successful development of our international activities. He serves as Managing Director and co-owner of our subsidiary Pipex Italia S.p.A., which is responsible for the sales and distribution of Železiarne Podbrezová products on global markets.

However, his ties to our parent company extend much further:

  • He is a member of the Supervisory Board of the parent company Železiarne Podbrezová a.s.
  • He serves as Managing Director of the German subsidiary Pipex Deutschland GmbH.
  • He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish steel tube manufacturer TRANSMESA, which is also controlled by the parent group.

In addition to managing the activities of our sales company Pipex Italia, in recent years he has also held the prestigious position of President of ESTA (European Seamless Tube Association), which represents the interests of seamless steel tube manufacturers in Europe.

A Bridge Between Slovakia and Italy

In addition to his managerial and business achievements, Luigi Cuzzolin also plays an important role in international diplomacy on behalf of Slovakia. For approximately 20 years, he has served as an Honorary Consul and, since 2023, as Honorary Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Italy.

This state honour therefore recognises not only his managerial talent, but also his long-standing and dedicated work in strengthening Slovak-Italian relations.
