Michaela Vavrová Triumphs at Prestigious Golf Tournament at Tále
Golfer Michaela Vavrová achieved an outstanding success on her home course, Gray Bear at Tále. The member of Golf Club Tále became the winner of the prestigious professional tournament Ladies Slovak Golf Open 2026 and made history as the first Slovak player to win this event.
The Gray Bear golf course at Tále once again welcomed strong international competition this year. More than one hundred players from 32 countries took part in the tournament. The Ladies Slovak Golf Open 2026 formed part of the Ladies European Tour Access Series and offered a total prize fund of EUR 50,000.
In the end, the biggest success stayed at home. Michaela Vavrová, a member of Golf Club Tále, led the standings after both the first and second rounds and remained in contention for the overall victory until the dramatic finish.
A thrilling play-off decided the winner
The final day brought an exciting battle between Vavrová and French golfer Holmey. After the sixteenth hole, the French player still held a two-shot lead. However, Vavrová made a birdie on the seventeenth hole, while her opponent recorded a bogey, bringing the scores level.
The eighteenth hole did not decide the winner either, so the tournament went into a play-off. Both players recorded the same score in the first play-off round. On the second attempt, however, Vavrová made a birdie and secured the victory.
The triumph at her home tournament also significantly improved her position in the overall Ladies European Tour Access Series ranking. Following her success at Tále, she moved up to 11th place in the standings. Her goal is to finish among the top seven players of the season, which would secure her a place on the Ladies European Tour in the following season.
An exceptional success for Tále and Slovak golf
Michaela Vavrová’s triumph is a major achievement not only for the player herself, but also for Golf Club Tále and Slovak golf. At the same time, it confirms the high standard of the Gray Bear golf resort, which is capable of regularly hosting important international sporting events.
Tále has long been part of ŽP GROUP and ranks among the key sports and leisure destinations in the Horehronie region. Hosting a prestigious international tournament and seeing a home player claim victory represent excellent promotion for the region, Slovakia and Železiarne Podbrezová.
We warmly congratulate Michaela Vavrová on this exceptional achievement and wish her many more successes at domestic and international tournaments.
