Social Responsibility

At Železiarne Podbrezová, we believe that business should create value not only for the company itself, but also for the community in which it operates. Our approach to social responsibility is rooted in a long-standing tradition, strong regional ties, and a genuine effort to improve the quality of life in the Horehronie region.

We support initiatives that truly matter—in the fields of education, healthcare, culture, and sport. Our goal is to strengthen the community that stands behind us. We cooperate with local institutions, foundations, and organisations whose activities positively influence the lives of children, young people, seniors, and the wider public.

Youth Health and Sport

Železiarne Podbrezová a.s. brings together young football players through its football academy, operating across 13 boys’ and girls’ age categories. More than 30 coaches and instructors are dedicated to developing young athletes. Approximately 360 children and young people are involved in youth football at the club, with annual investments of around €600,000 supporting their activities and development.

Cultural Heritage

We actively contribute to the preservation of cultural and historical heritage. For more than two decades, Ľupča Castlehas been closely associated with Železiarne Podbrezová. Open to the general public, the castle helps promote the good name of our company. In cooperation with heritage conservation authorities and with the support of grant programmes, the castle is undergoing gradual reconstruction, restoring its historical appearance and cultural significance.

Supporting Other Sports

Through ŠK Železiarne Podbrezová, we also support a wide range of other sports disciplines. These include talented biathletes, 20 athletes in the cycling club, as well as young participants in bowling and alpine skiing programmes. The company provides training conditions, equipment, and participation in competitions, creating opportunities for youth sports development across a broad spectrum of disciplines.

Health of the Region

An equally important area of our social engagement is the support of regional healthcare. We maintain long-term cooperation with the Hospital in Brezno, providing not only financial assistance, but also methodological and professional support. Through our Foundation, the hospital has successfully implemented several key projects, including the purchase of modern hospital beds, medical equipment, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology.
