Železiarne Podbrezová

Podbrezovan has been writing its story since June 1930, when it became the very first workers’ periodical in Slovakia. Despite strong persecution and administrative obstacles, the publisher at the time managed to release seven issues. Publication was subsequently suspended for political reasons and resumed several years later.

Bilingual Beginnings

In 1942–1943, the newspaper was published bilingually in Slovak and German. Since 1945, Podbrezovan has been published continuously—initially as a monthly, later as a biweekly. Throughout its history, the newspaper has reflected developments within the company and society, always with a strong focus on timeliness, employee life, and corporate values.

The Newspaper Today

Today, Podbrezovan plays a key role in both internal and external communication. It is not only a traditional bridge between the employer and employees, but also a modern platform for presenting the position of Železiarne Podbrezová a.s. to the wider public.
