Supporting Education and Professional Growth

At Železiarne Podbrezová, we believe that company growth starts with people. Every year, we train more than 10,000 individuals across dozens of professional roles – from crane operators and load binders to foremen and technologists. Education is an integral part of our strategic management. We focus on quality, safety, environmental protection, and new technologies. We use both internal and external trainers, cooperate with universities, and support employees in external studies.

We support:

  1. professional and career development,
  2. personal development programmes,
  3. study allowances and advisory services,
  4. cooperation with technical schools and universities.

As a result, we build a team that keeps pace with the most advanced trends in steelmaking and industry.

We also support housing for our employees. Within the group, we offer 120 rental apartments, forming part of a stable and community-oriented living environment in the region.

Collective Agreement as a Partnership-Based Approach

We view cooperation with the trade union organisation at Železiarne Podbrezová as a cornerstone of our corporate culture. Constructive and factual social dialogue enables us to find a balance between employee needs and company objectives. Each year, together with the Basic Organisation of OZ KOVO ŽP – the local branch of OZ KOVO, the Slovak Trade Union of Metalworkers, we negotiate a collective agreement governing working conditions, wages, and social benefits. These negotiations are conducted with a strong emphasis on fairness, transparency, and long-term stability.

We Guarantee Our Employees:

  1. fair wages and wage supplements (e.g. for night work, weekends, on-call duty),
  2. meal benefits and contributions for recreation,
  3. social assistance in difficult life situations,
  4. participation in creating a healthy and safe working environment.

The collective agreement reflects annual increases in the minimum wage and includes improvements in allowances and employee benefits. This shared agreement strengthens trust between employees and management and contributes to the stability and performance of the entire company.
