Steel billets are first cut into blocks, which are then reheated to temperatures above 1200 °C. After scale removal using high-pressure water, the blocks are calibrated and a mandrel is pressed into them on a piercing press to create a hollow. In the elongator, the pierced billet is rounded and elongated. This is followed by rolling through mills, where a so-called shell is formed – a hollow semi-finished product that is further rolled in the reducing mill to the required diameter and wall thickness. After cooling, the tubes are cut, straightened, and subjected to inspection, including hydrostatic testing. The finished tubes are then packed and dispatched, or used as semi-finished products for further processing, such as cold drawing or the production of fittings.
