17 Železiarne Podbrezová a.s. ANNUAL REPORT 2018 ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY Environmental protection and occupational health and safety have long been a priority of Železiarne Podbrezová a.s. Functional occupational health and safety protection management systems are a permanent part of the business activities of the Company. Based on the previous effectiveness and functionality analyses of individual management systems, the Company implemented a joint internal combined audit of the two management systems for environmental management and occupational health and safety in the past. The integrated management system combines: The environmental management system (SEM) under ISO 14001; and The occupational health and safety management system (SRBP) under OHSAS 18001. In 2018, SGS Slovakia spol. s r.o. performed a supervision audit of SRBP and a recertification audit of SEM. The audit results showed compliance with the requirements of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001, which confirmed the functionality of the integrated management system. The certification of SEM according to ISO 14001 standard was confirmed by a new certificate valid until September 2021. In 2018, we fulfilled a total of nine environmental objectives (EUR 404 thousand) and 28 tasks aimed at the improvement of occupational health and safety (EUR 1 633 thousand) under the SEM programme. HUMAN RESOURCES Železiarne Podbrezová a.s. has paid proper attention to HR management over the long term. Looking after our employees has been comprehensive and includes recruitment, selection and education of young people, remuneration, an occupational health and safety system, and continual education and benefits. In 2018, as in the previous years, the Company again adopted two fundamental documents: the 2018 Collective Agreement concluded between ZO OZ KOVO (KOVO trade union works council) and the Company’s Board of Directors, and the Programme of the Board of Directors of Železiarne Podbrezová a.s., which together comprise the Personnel, Wage, Social and Occupational Health and Safety Policy Programme. The Company fully met its obligations arising from the said documents. The amount of EUR 596 thousand was spent from the social fund in 2018. The most significant expenses were as follows: Catering services for employees EUR 464 thousand; 24/7 accident insurance for all employees EUR 54 thousand; Children’s holiday camps EUR 32 thousand; Employee rehabilitation vouchers EUR 17 thousand; Recuperation stays for employees who are blood donors EUR 3 thousand. The Employee Care Programme was extended to include mainly the following: Employer’s contribution to employee supplementary pension schemes EUR 1 172 thousand; Preparation of future workforce and granting of scholarships EUR 602 thousand; Protective equipment and employee drinking regime EUR 501 thousand; Retirement and severance payments to employees EUR 381 thousand; Convalescence stays and preventative medical checks for employees EUR 253 thousand; Improvement of employee qualifications EUR 200 thousand; Bonuses for major work and life anniversaries EUR 104 thousand; Comprehensive programme of recuperative measures EUR 1 633 thousand.
