Staff expenses One of the most important tasks in the scope of human resources is to retain all of the Company’s employees, as well as acting as in information conduit with the general public: the Company is very open in communicatingwith employees and society, this is a pillar of our successful operations. The Company’s newspaper, Podbrezovan, and its radio station with daily broadcasting are important aspects of communication activities. The newspaper celebrated its 60th anniversary in December 2004 and is the oldest company newspaper in Slovakia. The Company, however, has started to use new progressive ways of communication. A new information strategy is based on internet and intranet technology with web pages and e-mail applications facilitating mutual information flow. Železiarne Podbrezová a.s. as the most important employer in the region also has an obligation to perform or sponsor state-related activities and other social organizations. The Company puts effort into helping regions, which are not supported adequately from the state budget by providing contributions to the foundation Nadácia Železiarne Podbrezová. The foundation’s support of education, health, social, cultural and sport activities amounted to more than SKK 3 510 thousand. The foundation believes that this support has helped beneficiaries to overcome critical periods and partially cover their financial needs.
